On October 21, 2021, Baldwin, who is also a producer of the movie, was filming on the set of the upcoming film Rust at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico, when he discharged a prop firearm, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. Immediately after the incident, Hutchins was transported to the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque via helicopter; Souza was transported by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center in Santa Fe.
